    • RE: What are you hunting/fishing?

kyle B9AEFFDE-D423-4211-9EF8-4A0D457CF46F.jpeg Took my 9 year old neighbor boy aka fishing buddy, on the Missouri River yesterday. We typically go on Friday, but he was busy with other activities, so a Saturday trip was planned. We kept 24 and he caught 4 of the 5 bigger fish and the best one was 6.25#. This kid is ready to go at 6:30am would spend all day in the boat. He was shaking from excitement after catching the bigger fish, trying to beat his record of 6.5#.

Here is the catch of the day on Sunday. My fishing buddy landed a 26# blue cat after a half hour battle. Very unusual to. catch one that size on stink bait.

Tiny Mae is my older pointing lab and the brothers are Cy & Louie that are her half brothers, that also point even at 1 yr old.

cdavis 971F6198-49FB-4544-9EF4-7786E0845AFF.jpeg Filled my late muzzleloader tag on Christmas eve after the blizzard subsided. It was still plenty cold and windy. Air temp. -3 and NW wind 15-20 creating some pretty good windchills. The area I hunt has had lower deer numbers due to EHD for the last few years and we decided not to shoot does. Typically we are shooting does and trophy hunting this season. We haven’t had anything in the area that made me want to wait for. This spike was the 11th buck I saw and the best was a 130”+/- 8 point that has great potential in 1 or 2 years that were passed up and 4 spikes, that were drawn in by a yearling doe in heat. I have 25# of sticks stuffed to smoke tomorrow. Going to grind and stuff again tomorrow, so my son has plenty of sticks to take home with him. My son came back today to hunt a few days, so I am hoping he fills his tag and replenishes my venison supply. Good luck to all who are still holding a tag.

ND Mike Can’t wait to hear the updates and highlights! Leaving on 7/1 for my trip and it has been a couple of years since I made the trip there. My uncle sent this pic of a young bull that has been bedding in his yard at his cabin.C753648C-128C-4C57-B3CC-76B3117F50E4.jpeg

    • RE: 25lb Spicy Garlic Swiss and 25lb Jalapeno Cheddar Summer Sausages

Jamieson22 Those tamales look very good. Had a guy at work that his mother made them and they were excellent. Unfortunately he doesn’t work with me any longer, so I lost my tamale connection.

I have one of these that my cousin makes and it works to load deer alone or haul in hunting gear. The video is old and they have made several improvements, plus he is an old North Dakota boy, from New Leipzig.

    • RE: Help us grow!

Found by a google search for sausage seasonings. Only in my second season of it, although there is a lot of knowledge on this site and not a lot of bickering back and forth, that is what keeps me here.

processhead That is a nice pile of jumbo’s! What lake where you on Bitter? I love the glacial lake area for fishing and all the options of different water to fish.

salmonmaster Great write up! Going to add this to my list of things to try. Not a big fan of ECA, so the smooth acid may be a game changer.

bocephus I have been shooting one about 30 years and own 2 now. Finally got my Citori I always wanted about a year ago. Taking a little getting used to the safety, since it is a bit different than my Ruger Red Label.

    • RE: What are you hunting/fishing?

Jonathon I have only sold 2 guns in my lifetime and one I wish I had back now. It was a Model 11 that had the safety in front of the trigger and it didn’t work right. At 20 years old I wanted something to shoot, not look at.

    • RE: What are you hunting/fishing?

bocephus You may not want it, since there clearly had to be defective if Jonathon struggled to hit with it. 🤣 I wouldn’t trade either of my o/u’s for another gun to shoot, except for the 870 I have had for about 50 years.
